Sky is the Limit for the Brave Polish People in the UK

Almost 1 million Polish people are currently living in the UK and Jakub is one of them.

You’ve probably heard about the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the largest club stadium in London, and one of the most complex construction sites. Jakub is a big supporter of Tottenham F.C. and his own contribution to his favourite football club is unique. He was part of the large team that built the new stadium for over three years, together with other skillful colleagues from Poland who make a living in the UK, working in construction.

Jakub was 25 when he arrived in London from Warsaw four years ago. He started working as a crane operator from the very next day. Since then, you can find Jakub up in the sky of London, driving his crane bravely, six days a week, ten hours a day, on some of the highest and most advanced construction sites. There is a strong motivation behind his fearless work at heights. In spite of his daily job, Jakub is a person with his feet on the ground who loves his family. Since he arrived in the UK, Jakub has been constantly sending money to his elder sister in Poland. This way, he makes sure that his mother’s health is always on good hands.

“People like Jakub built Opal Transfer and have been motivating us since 2003. For 17 years, we have been close to the Polish communities in the UK, which have such a strong connection to their families. I personally feel very close to their culture and traditions, as my grandfather was Polish.

We admire the Polish people as they are always preoccupied with the good health of their loved ones back home while working hard to build a new face of the city here. Just imagine, Poles send home through Opal Transfer services over £2.5 million every year, for health purposes only – such as medicines, surgeries, medical treatment for parents, home nursing and care services for the elderly, dental care, health insurance, and other similar health-related reasons. We are happy to support the Polish families’ wellbeing through fast and safe money transfers. And more: if these people ever want to get friendly advice for an easier life in the UK, they can always rely on our team. We have three Polish colleagues, ready to help and share similar life experiences with their countrymen”. – Gita Petkevica, Founder of Opal Transfer
